Target group: Master students.
Content The course is structured in four case studies, including the introduction of a pay-as-you-go social security scheme, a deficit-financed tax cut, the incidence of capital income taxation and generational accounting in general equilibrium. Each case study consists of two parts. A lecture providing students with the theoretical background of the case study at hand and an accompanying computer session devoted to the analysis of the dynamic macroeconomic effects by means of a numerical simulation.
Requirements Students should have passed lectures “Öffentliche Ausgaben” and “Öffentliche Einnahmen” or introductory public economic courses at their home universities. In addition, students should have some basic knowledge of Mircosoft Excel or any other spreadsheet software.
Credit points: 6 credit points can be earned. In order to complete the course, four graded worksheets and an oral exam have to be passed. Participation in all classes is mandatory. The workshop does not count as a seminar.
